Muslims in Thopur assaulted on Police

A tense situation was emerged in THOPUR town following an incident between police and Muslim people on 07.11.2015. People alleged that police has assaulted three personals when they were caught riding a motorbike without helmets and relevant documents. Situation was controlled with the involvement of PM ABDUL MAHAROOF and several key figures in the area for a discussion with the people. Following requests were made by the people and police agreed over them:
Allow ride motorbikes without helmets on JUMMA days.
Transfer the 04 policemen who involved in so called assault on a Muslim.
Release the motorbike which police has arrested while victims of so called assault were riding.
Delete all photos captured during the situation.

Garbage consumed elephant died

A dead body of an elephant found at Welweriyakulam Tank reservoir on 06.11.2015. Wild Life officials  inspected the dead body of the elephant and found that the cause for the death is consumption of garbage.

NGOs ready for disasters

UN officials held a meeting for NAFSO, Sewa Lanka, Birendina, Muslim aid and World Vision NGOs at Trincomalee GA office on 06.11.2015. There, there were several discussions on disaster management plans for possible flood situation during the coming weeks in Trincomalee district.

A couple stolen a laptop

A laptop worth of Rs.140,000 was stolen from the Singer showroom at Trincomalee-Anuradhapura junction branch on 05.11.2015. Show room owner has made a complaint that an unknown couple who hanged-around are the suspects. Uppuweli police conducts investigations.

A clash among students

A clash among the students  (11 & 12 grades) of Vipulananda Vidyalaya-Trincomalee, was emerged on 06.11.2015 and Uppuweli police had to involve to settle the situation. A dispute over a love affair was caused for the clash and an injured student was admitted to Trincomalee hospital.

Human Elephant Conflict In Trincomalee district

The electric fence which was constructed in Kanthale,mahawelipura village, was destroyed by the elephants on 03.11.2015. This fence was constructed by Manahara Lanka co. with an expenditure of 4 lakhs rupees. A meeting is organized at Mahawelipura temple to educate the people on how to deal with wild elephants. Meanwhile, wild elephants have damaged the house and destroyed 20 coconut plants of Mrs. Rajeshwari in Shanthipuram, Mahadiwulwewa on 04.11.2015
